On Thursday, in the capital city of Zimbabwe, a Chinese delegation conducted a formal ceremony to transfer the new parliament building to President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe.
During a ceremony attended by government officials, diplomats, and Chinese embassy officials, among others, Tang Wenhong, the vice chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and leader of a visiting Chinese delegation, formally presented the magnificent structure to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In his speech at the event, President Mnangagwa emphasized that the new parliament building, spanning 33,000 square meters in total floor area, serves as a central element around which a fresh administrative capital will be developed.
“The new parliament building, which stands as one of the most magnificent and modern buildings in our country, signifies the excellent relations that exist between Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China. The attention to detail and high standards of workmanship exhibited in this project are indeed commendable,” Mnangagwa said.
Mnangagwa expressed that Zimbabwe acknowledges China’s accomplishments in reaching development goals and its commitment to worldwide peace and a common future for humanity.
During his speech at the event, Tang highlighted that the project serves as a clear demonstration of the collaborative efforts between Zimbabwe and China.
Tang also noted that both nations have obtained successful outcomes in practical collaborations across various areas, including infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, and more, which serves as a role model for South-South cooperation.
