Timothy Ekeno, hailing from Turkana, clinched victory in this year’s Desert Wheelchair race in Isiolo by clocking an impressive time of 30 hours, 8 minutes, and 0 seconds in the 21-kilometer competition.
This triumph not only secured Ekeno’s back-to-back title but also marked his fourth victory in the NONDO Wheelchair competition, establishing him as the most accomplished athlete in its history.
Notably, other Turkana athletes, including Simon Lochor, Samwel Tomorrow, and David Koyen, secured 8th, 10th, and 15th positions, respectively.
Ekeno received a prize of Ksh 100,000 and a winner’s cup from the event organizers amidst jubilation from team officials led by Mark Amiyo, the Director of Social Protection.
