A 76-year-old Cambodian widow residing in Kratie province has tied the knot with a cow, asserting that the animal embodies the spirit of her deceased husband.

Khim Hang points out the striking resemblances she noticed between the cow and her late spouse, who passed away a year ago.

She recalls the cow affectionately licking her hair and neck, followed by a kiss on her neck, reminiscent of her late husband’s habits, and even accompanying her into the room where she and her husband spent most of their time together.

“I believe that the calf is my husband because whatever he does… is in exactly the same way as my husband did when he was alive.” said Hang during an interview with Reuters.

According to the neighbors of the widow, the unusual couple got married later.

Strangely, the widow’s son also holds the belief that his father’s spirit resides within the cow, and he has been looking after it ever since they found it, ensuring it doesn’t stray too far.

The widow has explicitly instructed her children that when she passes away, they must not sell or harm the cow and should continue caring for their father until his passing.
