Edwin Kiprotich, aka Edwin Chiloba, a late LGBTQ+ activist and model, has been laid to rest at Sergoit village, Keiyo North, Elgeyo Marakwet.

Around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, the late model’s body was removed from the mortuary at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital before the cortege headed to his rural residence.

The 25 year old was Burried in accordance to Kalenjin burial rites.

The local administration, Edwin’s friends, relatives, and students from the University of Eldoret, where he studied, all came to the funeral service.

Friends condemned his death and eulogized him as a great man whose dreams were cut short much too early.

Edwin Chiloba’s body was discovered in a metallic box. According to a witness, a motorist dropped the box along Kipenyo-Katinga Road before speeding away.

Government pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed that Edwin Chiloba was suffocated with a pair of jeans, speaking to the press at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, he said the Deceased died of asphyxiation, a process where one gets deprived of oxygen.

“From our findings, the late Edwin died out of asphyxia which is caused by smothering He had a piece of trouser tied around the nose and mouth. He had socks stuffed in his mouth. He had Cyanosis, when you look at his fingernails, they were bluish in colour which shows that he lacked oxygen when he died.”
