Police in Louisville, Kentucky are investigating a case where a man identified as Gary Stanton allegedly committed a murder-suicide that took out his Kenyan wife and two children on Saturday morning.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Gary, 60, is believed to have shot his wife Mary Njoki Muchemi and their two daughters, Andrianna and Brianna, before turning the gun on himself.
According to Kentucky local media reports, Louisville Metro Authorities discovered a man, woman, and two girls dead on East Pages Lane after a shooting.
Around 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, the Police Department reported that they had responded to a report of a shooting in the 4500 block of East Pages Lane off Dixie Highway.
The coroner’s office identified the victims as Mary Stanton, 49, Adrianna Stanton, 17, and Brianna Stanton, 11 years old.
LMPD said Gary Stanton is the husband to Mary, and father of the two girls.
“We feel pretty confident that the incident is going to be a murder-suicide situation where the adult male was the primary aggressor who shot the three females,” LMPD Maj. Micah Scheu said on Saturday.
The deaths are being investigated as domestic murder-suicide by the LMPD’s Homicide Unit.
Mary’s sister took to Facebook and wrote, “Today I have lost my best friend. My one and only sister, Njoki Muchemi Stanton. I am not ok.”
Emily Muchemi told WDRB Media earlier this week that her sister Mary was full of life and optimism.
“Nothing seemed off,” Muchemi said in a statement. “We talked and joked every day.”
“Family was important to her and she worked hard to lift everyone up in the family,” Muchemi said.
Mary Stanton was still in mourning after burying her father on November 12 in Kiamaina, Kirinyaga County.
“Our hearts are not even healed from dad’s sudden death and now this,” Muchemi added.
