NBA star Anthony Edwards has been mandated by the court to pay $1.08 million in child support to his ex-girlfriend, Ayesha Howard, following a legal battle over their daughter, Aubri. The ruling comes after months of speculation and misinformation circulating online.
The controversy gained traction on March 31 when an X (formerly Twitter) user, @PrincessM___, claimed that Edwards sought to pay 18 years of child support in a single lump-sum payment.
The post went viral, amassing over 1.3 million views and sparking widespread debate. However, Howard quickly shut down the rumors, clarifying on Instagram and via The Shade Room that no such agreement existed.
“There are no court documents, motions, or proceedings that have occurred, nor have I been offered or agreed to such terms.”
Howard stated. She later questioned the origin of the false claims, posting, “Where do these lies be coming from?”
Legally, Edwards—who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves—had filed for paternity and child support determination. While he acknowledged paternity, he did not pursue custody or visitation rights, focusing solely on financial obligations.
Howard, a California resident, initially requested a higher support amount based on state guidelines but reportedly lost that motion.
Despite the viral misinformation, the court finalized the case, ordering Edwards to pay the $1.08 million sum. With the legal matter now resolved, both parties appear to be moving forward separately.
The case highlights how quickly unverified claims can spread online, even as real legal proceedings unfold behind the scenes.
