A multiagency investigation is underway after a helicopter transporting examination papers in Kapedo, Turkana county was targeted by bandits who fired at it, causing damage.

The incident occurred around noon, as Captain Imam Makanda, the pilot of Helicopter 5YZKL, and co-pilot William Maiyo were en route to Samburu county after completing the distribution of KCPE and KPSEA examination materials in various locations within Turkana county, specifically between Lokori and Kapedo.

The crew became aware of the attack when they heard gunshots, and later discovered that their helicopter had been struck by bullets.

Despite the damage, the pilot skillfully managed to safely land the helicopter at Maralal police station, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
