Turkana women spearheads the first ever conference in Lodwar Town.

Women have decided to position themselves to take lead in leadership and business opportunities to build their resilience through business.

Women have decided to position themselves to take lead in leadership and business opportunities to build their resilience through business. Turkana Women League is a non Political, non Profit making with women from Turkana Community.

The group will enable Turkana women to support themselves to take charge and take space and participate fully in their professional, political and social space to support their families.

Women Representative Joyce Emanikor took the lead in the convention in order to empower pastoral women to take over seats and grab that what belongs to them.

She however said that women can go for all seats be it gubernatorial seat, senatorial seats, ward representative etc. This will enable pastoral women to fight for their space in the community.

The women have decided to create a data base to tap all the job opportunities available along the globe. This will be enhanced only when the women will maintain professionalism.

Elizabeth Lobolia who won Kenya business Award 2019 recognition of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES) in Kenya.

She said that they have decided to come up with business academies that will enable them expand market access and increase their ability to join global value chains for Small and Medium Enterprises. More capacity building for women to do business.

Engage in groups funded by the County Government. Fear has caused pastoral women lag behind but now this is the time to rise up again and own the world.

“We have decided to empower ourselves because this community male have a dominant say, and we have really waited for the time that we will get that opportunity but it has not come, but this is the time that we really want to stamp our authority because we have realised that for any community to succeed it has to have women playing part in it,” said Dr. Esther Ekitela.

Other women who attended the conference are the CEC for Lands Jennipher Nawoi, Chief officer for sports Pauline Lokuruka, Dr Esther Ekitela, among other women in Turkana County.
