Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel, the Chief Officer for Medical Services, has commissioned a new maternity block at Napeikar Dispensary in Loima Sub-county.

This block is made possible with support from Rev. Jung Ja Rhee of South Korea through the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) Church – Napeikar.

The County Government has furnished the new facility, and a nurse has been assigned to handle the anticipated rise in workload. In addressing the community, Dr. Lokoel reiterated the government’s dedication to providing top-notch healthcare services.

“We are committed to enhance health services by deploying a clinical officer. In future , we will elevate the dispensary to a health centre, making it a referral facility for the area,” he stated.

Dr. David Moru, the Director for Health Products and Technologies at Ag, reassured the community of ongoing support to supply the block with a consistent flow of necessary medicines and medical provisions.

Peter Ekope, the Public Health Nurse for Loima Sub-county, emphasized that the new maternity unit, equipped with 10 beds, is improving skilled birth attendance services in the region.

At the handover ceremony, the CCO received the key from Bishop Wilson Lokaalei and Assistant Bishop Charles Kamais of KAG Napeikar leadership, along with Joshua Kang (Missionary).

Community representatives Loworo Aruman (representing women) and Charles Pedo (Chair of the Naipekar Dispensary Facility Committee) expressed their appreciation, affirming that crucial services are now more accessible to the people.

They highlighted that women no longer need to travel to Lodwar for maternal care services.
