Mark Nakain the chair person of people living with disability reiterated that this year the ministry of social services department has offered over 500 sacks of food to the venerable groups in the County.
However these people include the elderly, the sick and the disabled who cannot afford food for the season. Wilson Namtoni is a carpenter, but not only a carpenter but also disabled. He is one of the beneficiaries of the program since the year started. He is urging other people not to forget the disabled since this is the time to show love to the needy in the society.
“We are doing this to avoid begging on the streets,” said Nakaini
The program has also been supporting people with Tuberculosis together with those living with HIV and AIDS. Due to the vulnerability of the people the program has considered those who cannot feed on hard food due to their age. This kind of people has been offered with foods like milk, eggs, beans and cooking oil.
Those who could not access the Centre were also not left out but were visited to be given the support by the department. He added that due to the pandemic since the month of March everything has been affected including the vulnerable groups which have been left behind without any support from the well-wishers.
