Jurgen Klopp, the current manager of Liverpool, has announced his decision to depart the football club at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

Klopp, who took charge in October 2015, has overseen a remarkable transformation at Anfield, securing victories in various prestigious competitions including the Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.

In a statement to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp acknowledged that the news might be surprising for many but expressed his intention to provide an explanation.

“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.

“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”

Klopp’s assistant managers, Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, along with elite development coach Vitor Matos, are set to leave Liverpool.

The club states that Lijnders aims to pursue a managerial career.

Liverpool is currently competing in the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League.

In the league, Arsenal is a strong contender, and Liverpool is scheduled to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup at Wembley next month.

Klopp has a successful record against London teams, with 13 wins in 27 games against Arsenal, nine wins in 13 games against Chelsea, and 11 wins in 19 games against Tottenham.
