Turkana Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus today flagged off the Turkana Sports Team, which will compete for the first time in the 9th edition of the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) on Monday, January 16, 2023 in Kisumu County.

The County Team is one of the 47 counties that have confirmed their participation in the upcoming event, which aims to provide an opportunity for sport teams from counties to demonstrate their sporting talents and socialize in order to learn about each other’s cultural orientations.

Dr. Erus challenged the players not to view athletics solely as a recreational activity, but also as a tool to transform lives and a catalyst for revolutionary change in the community.

“These competitions will make our teams develop physical and mental well-being, which promotes productivity at places of work and make them lead lives full of satisfaction,” said the DG.

The DG urged the Sports Department to be proactive in planning inter-vocational games with employee participation as that will maintain their physical well-being.
