Pastor Mboro, whose real name is Paseka Motsoeneng, the self-proclaimed leader of Incredible Happenings Ministries, has been arrested along with three others for a violent confrontation at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong.
The incident involved the forcible removal of his two grandchildren from the school premises.
Violent Incident Captured on Video
On Monday, videos surfaced showing Pastor Mboro wielding a panga and one of his companions carrying what appeared to be a rifle as they entered the primary school.
The footage revealed Mboro charging at staff members who attempted to intervene and others who were recording the altercation.
Police Statement and Arrests
Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the arrests, stating that four individuals were detained for alleged intimidation and violent behavior at the school. “The four were arrested last night and will appear in the Palm Ridge court in due course,” Kweza said.
They face charges including assault, reckless handling of a firearm, providing unregistered security services, malicious damage to property, and intimidation.
A replica firearm and the panga used in the incident were confiscated. Additionally, one of the arrested men allegedly assaulted the station commander at Katlehong North police station during a confrontation where a group demanded to confront Mboro outside the station.
Ongoing Investigations and Potential Further Arrests
Colonel Kweza indicated that more arrests could follow as investigations continue. The police are actively looking into the incident to ensure all involved parties are held accountable.
Impact on School and Students
Gauteng education spokesperson Steve Mabona announced on Tuesday morning that classes at Matshidiso Primary School would likely be suspended for the day due to the traumatic event.
“I don’t think the curriculum will be delivered [on Tuesday]. The priority is the minds of the young ones. It is a primary school. They are traumatised after such an incident. The important part we want to deal with is the two children who are affected . We understand they are in [the home] of one of the men who went there. We will be working with police and social development. We need to access the household and make sure the children are attended to. They must be supported,” he said.
The department is collaborating with social development and the police to locate the two children taken by Mboro’s entourage, who are reportedly at the home of one of the arrested men.
Guardianship of the Children
The two boys, under the guardianship of their maternal grandmother since their mother’s death in April, were the focus of the violent incident.
Authorities are working to ensure the children’s safety and provide necessary support to help them cope with the trauma.
This incident underscores the need for swift and coordinated action by authorities to protect vulnerable individuals and maintain safety in educational environments.
