Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has pledged to persist in his efforts to bring together leaders and citizens of Turkana, regardless of their political associations.
Addressing the community in Loperot, Kalapata, the Governor highlighted the significance of harmony, encouraging residents to collaborate and move away from divisive party politics.
In a restocking initiative, Governor Lomorukai, accompanied by a group of leaders and senior County Government officials, aimed to assist residents who suffered livestock losses during a banditry attack in the region last year.
“I pledged during the campaigns to take lead in uniting leaders of all backgrounds because Turkana belongs to all of us. Division hampers development,” said the Governor.
During the activity, Governor Lomorukai distributed 500 goats to families affected by the exercise.
He guaranteed the local residents that the ongoing relief efforts would extend to all regions impacted by drought in the county.
Moreover, he pledged that the County Government would initiate a restocking campaign to help restore the livelihoods of those who suffered from livestock theft the previous year.
Additionally, Governor Lomorukai assisted 30 students from the area entering Form One by providing them with Sh10,000 each for the purchase of school necessities.
Expressing his strong stance against divisive politics, the Governor affirmed his administration’s dedication to collaborating with President William Ruto, who had been duly elected and declared president.
Governor Lomorukai underscored the commitment to fair resource distribution, irrespective of residents’ political affiliations in the previous general election.
MCA Samwel Lomodo from Lokichar advocated for the enlistment of more National Police Reservists (NPR), while Linus Echeme, the Kalapata counterpart, urged the county’s security forces to apprehend criminals causing unrest in the region.
