Donald Trump Appears At Convention With Bandaged Ear After Shooting

Donald Trump was warmly received at the Republican National Convention on Monday, marking his first public appearance since a weekend assassination attempt left him with a bandaged right ear.

Entering Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, Trump waved to supporters after securing the Republican presidential nomination and announcing Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate.

Trump, set to deliver his formal acceptance speech on Thursday, appeared moved by the enthusiastic crowd, accompanied by Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” Illinois delegate Susan Sweeney expressed admiration, saying, “Just thinking what he’s been through, and to come here today because he really cares.”

The convention also celebrated Trump’s selection of Vance, 39, a former critic turned staunch supporter.

Vance, author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” aligns with Trump’s America First movement and holds strong conservative views, including on abortion.

With the country still reeling from the assassination attempt, which killed a bystander and left Trump injured, the convention saw 50,000 Republicans gather.

Despite legal challenges and past impeachments, Trump remains confident of a White House return, while President Joe Biden faces criticism over his health and weak poll numbers.

Trump hinted at a unifying convention speech, despite past rhetoric calling for supporters to “fight.”

Having reshaped Republican politics over the past four years, Trump scored a legal victory with the dismissal of a national security-related case.
