The Kenyan gospel music fraternity is in mourning following the tragic passing of beloved artist Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, popularly known as Betty Bayo.
The “11th Hour” singer lost her life on Monday, November 10, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
The sad news was confirmed by her ex-partner, Pastor Victor Kanyari, who announced he was en route to Kenyatta National Hospital, where Betty Bayo had been receiving treatment.
In a heartfelt tribute on his official social media, Kanyari, with whom she had two children with, wrote, “R.I.P Mama Sky. The mother to my kids.”
Betty Bayo was a cherished figure in the gospel scene, best known for her powerful and uplifting hit, “11th Hour.” The song brought hope and inspiration to many and cemented her place as a talented and impactful musician.
