Jewish Philanthropist Alex Soros and Former Clinton Adviser Huma Abedin Announce Engagement

Jewish philanthropist Alex Soros, 38, son of billionaire and prominent political donor George Soros, is engaged to Huma Abedin, 47, a former top adviser to Hillary Clinton. Abedin was previously married to Jewish politician Anthony Weiner.

The couple shared their joy on Instagram with a post that read, “This happened. We couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love.”

Soros proposed privately at their shared home in New York in May. The couple later celebrated their engagement with a formal event in Italy, according to Vogue.

Soros and Abedin met last fall at a mutual friend’s birthday party and made their public debut as a couple at the Met Gala in May.

Alex Soros is the second-youngest son of George Soros, a significant donor to liberal causes through the Open Society Foundations. George Soros, often criticized by right-wing groups, has faced accusations of antisemitism in some critiques. Last year, George Soros, now 93, named Alex as his successor to lead the Open Society Foundations.
