Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has met Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and a group of Linda Mwananchi leaders at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County, barely after his return from the United States.
The Tuesday gathering comes as Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala continues to push for Sifuna and Gachagua to join forces. Malala argues that a joint ticket could pose a serious challenge to President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Malala has also been seen at Linda Mwananchi events, which he has framed as a show of solidarity, saying he was there on Gachagua’s behalf.
Pictures from the meeting were posted on Gachagua’s social media pages. Among those present were DCP Secretary General John Methu, former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo and Linda Mwananchi communications head Pauline Njoroge.
Welcoming his guests, Gachagua called them his cousins and said he was hopeful about the talks.
Neither side has announced a formal alliance, but the meeting is likely to intensify speculation about opposition realignments before the next polls.
