Suba South MP and Linda Mwananchi spokesperson Caroli Omondi has revealed that the opposition-aligned movement’s next political gathering will be held in Meru.
The announcement comes just days after the campaign’s Homa Bay rally was disrupted by deadly clashes and destruction of property.
Omondi shared the news on Facebook on Tuesday, August 18, “MERU LINDA MWANANCHI TOUR,” which is slated for Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The planned Meru event follows the violent Homa Bay rally where rival youth groups fought, leaving two people dead and several properties damaged.
However, the announcement is being made amid growing unease over security at political events following the Homa Bay incident on Sunday, August 16. Two people, including a police officer, were confirmed dead after rival youth groups clashed in Homa Bay Town.
The deceased officer was reportedly a driver attached to the Nyando Police Command. The second victim was identified as a Ugandan woman who was allegedly hit by a speeding vehicle during the chaos.
