Argentina has advanced to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar after a shootout victory.
After their quarterfinal match in Qatar, Lionel Messi questioned Louis van Gaal’s strategy and tactics, criticizing the Netherlands’ style of play.
Messi was also seen arguing with Dutch manager Louis van Gaal assistant Edgar Davids. It is then thought that Messi turned to Dutch double goal scorer Wout Weghorst during an interview and yelled: “What are you looking at fool/stupid?. Get back there.”
“Van Gaal says that they play good football, but what he did was put on tall people and hit long balls. I don’t want to talk about the referee because you can’t be honest.
“If you talk they sanction you, FIFA must think about it, they can’t put a referee like that for these instances, they can’t put a referee who isn’t up to the task.” Said Messi.
Argentina won 4-3 on penalties, with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez being named the team’s hero after stopping the Netherlands’ two penalties in the shootout.
