Meet the Qatar Metro guy, a Kenyan worker who became the World Cup’s most viral person.
A 23-year-old Kenyan worker has become one of Qatar’s biggest off-field stars. Abubakar Abbas rose to fame by saying one word: “Metro.”
In terms of what gets viral, the internet and social media, particularly TikTok, are incredibly random. Videos of Abbas on TikTok have received countless millions of views, fueling his popularity.

He started a TikTok account, which has more than 50,000 followers now.
Abbas’ job is straightforward; he sits in a chair like a lifeguard’s chair and directs visitors and admirers to Qatar’s metro station with a foam finger. He uses his megaphone to say that one magic word, which gives him power.

He became so popular, that he spoke to the entire stadium during England vs. USA game at Al Bayt Stadium.
