Leaders of Turkana County Assembly of Kenya and Karamoja are expected to hold a crisis meeting over the recent clashes between the Turkana of Kenya and Karamojong of Uganda pastoralists.
Karamoja Minister Mr. John Byabagmabi has called for a meeting, which is scheduled to take place on Monday 18 November. Those expected to attend the meeting are UPDF Chief of Defence Forces, Turkana County governor, political leaders from Kenyan and Karamoja and local security officials.
On October 25, the Turkana pastoralists who are grazing in Karamoja launched a series of attacks on the Karimojong in Kotido forcing them to flee their Kraals for their dear lives and settle near the army barracks in Nakapelimoru. Reports the PML Daily
“The meeting will take place on Monday and the main agenda is to discuss ways on how to make the two communities live together,” said Maj. Telesphor Turymumanya the 3rd division spokesperson.
