Hon. Christopher Doye Nakuleu, Mp Turkana North has raised a statement in Parliament, seeking address on safety standards in the aviation industry.

This is following the incident that happened recently, after an aircraft operated by Silverstone Air made an emergency landing at Eldoret international airport after one of its tyres dropped off after take off from Lodwar Airstrip.

In the statement presented to the parliament, the legislator pointed out a number of similar incidents that happened recently. And which are under investigations.

On a post on his official Facebook Page the Member of Parliament is concerned about the safety standards in the aviation industry. 

He requested a statement from the chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing to address, the safety standards governing the aviation industry with regard to passengers and crew members in this country.

The statement also seeks to know what routine maintenance procedures are required for aircrafts and other aviation infrastructures in the Country to guarantee safety and finally who bears the ultimate responsibility for airline safety in Kenya and what compensation and insurance measures have been put in place for the airline users and passengers.
